My Weekly Drash (a mini D'var Torah) - Ki Tissa (2)

In Parshah Ki Tissa, Moses discovers that he’s not the only one with a hotline to the Almighty. “See, I have singled out by name Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have endowed him with a divine spirit of skill, ability, and knowledge in every kind of craft.” (Exo. 31:2,3) We often speak of someone with a special talent as having a “gift,” but isn’t one of life’s tasks to discover what gift is within us? It may be one of leadership, like Moses. It might be one of skill and artistry, like Bezalel. It could be a less showy one, like the ability to be a great parent or a true friend. Those looking for “proof” of God through miracles are missing the obvious. Each of our lives has the potential to be miraculous. When you find within yourself the ability to create, to organize, to be a support for others in times of trouble, to somehow rise to the occasion in a way you didn’t know you had within you – you’re unwrapping God’s gift to you. Make sure you send a thank you note.
